IUPUI University Library and School of Library and Information Science Joint Research Conference

The IUPUI University Library and School of Information and Library Science Joint Research Conference 2011 is the inagural research conference of the IUPUI University Libraries and the School of Library and Information Science.

The School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at IUPUI and University Library (UL) announce a Research Conference on March 24, 2011, to showcase research by SLIS students and UL Faculty.

The conference will be held, Thursday, March 24 from 8:30 AM until 1:30 PM.
Through generous support* the conference is free for all attendees and includes breakfast, lunch, and great giveaways!

Keynote speaker, Steven Bell, Associate University Librarian for Research and Instructional Services, Temple University Libraries and author of the Blog, "The Kept-Up Academic Librarian," will present on "Putting the Science Back in Library Science: The Research-Practice Connection."

Two SLIS students, Sarah Preskitt and Maurice Rembert will present their own research projects. Two IUPUI library faculty members, Rhonda Huisman and William Weare (with SLIS student Matthew Stevenson), will also present their research projects.

This is a great opportunity for discussion and networking; therefore, I strongly encourage you to attend. An important aspect of being a professional librarian is the commitment to life-long learning, awareness of issues in the field, and engaging with one and other in the exploration of these issues.

This conference will be held annually –participate as an attendee this year and next year as a presenter. Think about it…..
